How can gottman couples therapy improve my relationship?

Gottman couples therapy has been proven to be an effective modality in helping couples develop tools for increasing communication, intimacy, managing conflict, feeling supported in life dreams and goals, navigating compromise and building trust within the relationship.

The Gottman method was founded by John and Julie Gottman. Through their research with couples in their ‘Love Lab’ they were able identify the masters and disasters of relationships and apply these methods to their approach when working directly with couples, coined the Sound Relationship House theory.

The Sound Relationship House assesses various levels within the relationship, such as friendship, commitment, trust, life dreams and creating shared meaning within the relationship.

The goal of Gottman couples therapy is to move these areas of challenge within the relationship to strengths through their tools and having couples actively practice these skills outside of session for long term success.
